Following on from the launch of the all-new ‘McItaly’ burger at McDonalds, it has been reported that an Italian Government figure has given his backing to the burger – prompting widespread criticism from the public.
As reported from MSN, Italy’s Agriculture Minister Luca Zaia has defended claims that he has turned his back on the country’s reputation and traditions of healthy cuisine, by stating that the McItaly burger will help generate around £3.1 million a month for Italian farmers across the country.
The burger, which consists of Italian beef, Asiago cheese and artichoke spread is available in Italy now, but it remains to be seen if the move will gain more controversy than success, following Zaia’s public approval.
