Maximizing Fuel economy: The 2012 Mustang GT

High fuel cost is constantly in the headlines these days with many consumers looking at ways to save money. But not everyone wants a Toyota Prius when it comes to maximizing fuel economy, so what about the 2012 Mustang GT.

Fuel economy of the GT is around 20 mpg with combined city and highway driving, which according to Mark Phelan of Kansas is better than the Camaro SS and G37. It is also the same as the Audi S5 which uses more expensive premium fuel.

Combining the best of the company’s history, the 2012 Mustang GT has great looks but with the electronics and engine of the modern day Ford. Prices for the convertible begin at $31,310, which will provide you with 305hp from a V6 engine and six speed transmission.

The GT starts at $38,310 that comes equipped with a 5.0-liter V8 which produces 412hp with a six speed manual transmission. If you want an automatic the price goes up to $39,505. The Mustang’s nearest rival is the Chevrolet Camaro, with both offering sophistication to rival more expensive convertibles.

Sync offers owners spoken control of cell phones and iPods as well as other functions. The lovely Ford V8 revs fast and easy with that great growl we have all come to expect from a Mustang. It also has great acceleration in every gear at all engine speeds.

The tall fifth and sixth gears maximize the fuel economy, but at the slight expense of highway acceleration. This 2012 Ford Mustang GT is a combination of great fun and value which keeps the Mustang tradition going strong.
