Right now there is some massive World of Warcraft latency and connection problems being reported both by users and the developers. On the official battle.net forums, we are seeing hundreds of comments being posted about connection issues that are growing in number by the second.
You can see the forum thread in question directly on battle.net right here, and it features more than 1,000 comments already spread over 100 plus pages. The issue reported has been titled “Retrieving Character List/Ingame Latency”, so if this is the problem you are experiencing then you can count on it being fixed pretty soon.
The thread started by one gamer explaining they couldn’t “get out of the 2v2 arena”, after waiting a few minutes they couldn’t even log out. They then pointed players to an official update on the problems and this quick message has been followed by more than 100 pages of errors being reported from other players.
