Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC not for all platforms

If you are a Mass Effect 3 fan and are excited about the upcoming release of the ME3 Omega DLC content, we have a word of warning for those of you planning to pick up the Wii U version of the game. The Omega DLC is due to be released soon, but we do have the disappointing confirmation to bring you, that it won’t be available on Nintendo’s new console.

One of the primary concerns for all new prospective Wii U buyers, is the fear of developers cutting content on Nintendo’s Wii U due to unforeseen circumstances, or reasons that Nintendo or developers really don’t want to make public. We’ve seen how the Wii U versions of FIFA 13 and Black Ops 2 will feature cut content compared to their console counterparts, and now it looks like Mass Effect 3 may be joining that unfortunate list as well.

EA has sent out a Tweet on the official Mass Effect 3 Twitter page, confirming that the Omega expansion isn’t going to be available on the Wii U, when the DLC comes out on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 27. Worst yet, there is no apparent reason for this either so you may want to hold off from buying the Wii U version until EA or Straight Right (developers for the Wii U port) clarify the situation further.

If you picked up the Wii U at a launch event hour ago in the US, Mass Effect 3 is now available as a launch title and you’ll be pleased to hear that the special edition on Wii U does come with some included DLC that has already released on the Xbox 360 and PS3. Wii U owners may not be getting access to Omega for now, but it will come with the Extended Cut and From Ashes DLC content, along with the smaller Resurgence, Rebellion, and Earth packs.

Early impressions show that Mass Effect 3 is one of the strongest Wii U launch titles available, so don’t get too disappointed about the Omega content. There’s also unique controls available via the Wii U GamePad, and EA may decide to unveil some sort of deal in the future which will score Wii U users with the Omega content, as well as the missing Leviathan, Firepack and Groundside Resistance extras.

Have you picked up the Wii U version of Mass Effect 3 yet? Are you disappointed that Omega won’t be available when it releases on other platforms, or are you prepared to wait as long as it takes?
