The Mario Kart 8 Wii U release date is today in Japan with the US receiving the new game tomorrow, and Europe/UK in a couple of days. We’ve featured a gameplay video below this article showcasing Mario Kart 8 in split-screen with over 20 minutes of discussion about the game and its new modes.
There’s a lot of changes in the battle mode of Mario Kart 8 and these will be loved or hated depending on the type of fan you are. The kart racing game is now in its eighth instalment, when counting main games, and it doesn’t matter if you haven’t played all the previous games in this franchise, but it certainly helps with the enjoyment.
You will be able to play Mario Kart 8 split-screen in online mode, but there’s a few differences including amount of players. The frame-rate will decrease with the more players and this seems to be with more than two, although this fact and others about the games performance are discussed in detail within the video below.
Personally, we love how colorful Mario Kart 8 is and would enjoy playing with friends and family, but how long we’d be prepared to play on our own might be very limited. Take a look at the video, then share a comment with your thoughts about Mario Kart 8 and if you’re going to pick it up on day one.
