Mario Kart 8 release date and characters

Mario Kart 8 is finally on the horizon, with Nintendo preparing to launch the game with a Mario Kart 8 release date of May 30 for the US and European regions – Japan gamers are lucky since they can play the game one day earlier on May 30.

It’s no secret to say that the game has been a long time in the making. We’re glad to see that Nintendo is almost ready for launch though and Mario Kart 8 could be set to play a crucial role too for Nintendo in terms of Wii U hardware sales over the Summer.

It looks like we now have the final Mario Kart 8 character roster confirmed as well, with no more surprises to drop before launch. Recently, we have just had the unveil of Koopa’s kids who will also be joining the action – those of you who grew up on Super Mario Bros 3 should know all about these characters as they were boss characters for each world.

Also coming to Mario Kart 8 as a new entry is Princess Baby Rosalina and Pink Gold Peach. You can see the entire roster in the image above, which includes plenty of fan favorites in there such as Wario, Waluigi, Donkey Kong, Peach, Toad and also Toadette.

If you look in the bottom left corner of the image, you’ll also see that Nintendo are putting Metal Mario into Mario Kart 8 as well, so that is exciting for fans.

Watch the video that we have included below, showing some Mario Kart 8 gameplay with the Koopalings. Let us know which character you are most excited about and whether you think we still see more drivers announced as DLC at a later date.
