Manchester United crackdown does not affect smartphones

Over the years football fans have enjoyed taking in their mobile devices to capture key moments in a game, but things will be very different from now, as Manchester United has banned tablets and laptops from being brought into the stadium, which came into effect during last nights Man United vs. Valencia match.

Thankfully, this ban imposed by Manchester United does not affect smartphones, so if you have an iPhone or Android handset, then you are still allowed to take them into the stadium.

The reason for this ban is because of the increased threat of terrorism because it would be far easier to hide an explosive device in something like an iPad.

However, the main reason is because of people using these large devices to record footage of a football match, which to us seems a little silly. We say this because it would be far easier to film with a smartphone because of them being smaller to hold, as well as recording in better quality seeing as though their cameras are often better.

Having said that, filming with something as large as an iPad could become an issue for spectators behind because of the device being so large and getting in their way.

What do you think of this new ban imposed by Manchester United?
