Making sense of Nexus (Droid) Prime rumors

By now you would have noticed that rumors surrounding the Samsung Nexus (aka Droid) Prime would have now started to increase, which is due to the reason that it is likely to be released on Verizon next month, along with the iPhone 5 as well. Back on September 9th we were treated to a photo and a spec list of what we can expect. Now we do not know if this was the real deal, but from what we have seen over the past week, we cannot see why not.

The most interesting thing that we learned happened not so long ago, and that was the fact that one guy claimed to have actually seen the device, but was said to have taken place after the Verizon Developer Conference. We listed some of the features, and that oversized home button was there also. However, we cannot be certain if it will make it to the final build version.

What we found most interesting is the weight of the handset, as we recently reported that it will not be as light as a Samsung Galaxy S II, but will be more like a Droid — as we know that those devices always weigh more than many other Android handsets on the market. Again, we cannot say if this is true, but it would make sense, as the S2 as it is commonly known is considered to be a little too light and fragile for some consumers.

Another rumor that we need to look at is the Android OS, it was first assumed that the Prime would come with Ice Cream Sandwich installed, but it now looks as though we will have to wait. This means that it will come with Gingerbread for now, due to the fact that the latest Nexus phone could be with us in October, and the next version of Android will not be released until the end of this year.

Having said that, Google will want the ICS to be released at the same time as a big phone launch, this either means bringing the new OS forward, or delaying the Prime until a later date. When do you expect to see the Samsung Nexus Prime, and what mobile operating system will be running things?
