MacBook Pro upgrade release evidence, October 2016

Even though there was no mention of a MacBook Pro update during the WWDC keynote, that does not mean to say there will not be one this year. We had already discussed the fact that there would be no mention of hardware during Monday’s event, but there have now been hints with macOS Sierra that a new MacBook Pro model is on its way, although not until later this year.

Closing in on the MacBook Pro 2016 upgrade release date – With the release of macOS Sierra Beta 1 there are some lovely little nuggets of information, and two interesting features certainly do point to an updated MacBook Pro. First of all there was that rumored OLED touch bar, along with the Touch ID support as well. If such features are coming to the new model, then its likely release date could be around October, although very late September is also a possibility. We say this because OS X 10.11 was released on September 30 of last year, and so we suspect the macOS Sierra release date will be around the same period this year. We suspect that the new MacBook Pro is ready to ship, but will not be released until macOS Sierra is out of Beta.

MacBook Pro with Touch ID

Even though we cannot be certain of this, seeing those potential features appear in the new desktop operating system has to be proof that they will appear in the next MacBook Pro. We had already reported on such features, and with the API changes now showing them features hidden in the OS, surely this rumor can finally been proven correct?

Some references in those new resources are as follows, “kHIDUsage_LED_DoNotDisturb”, “kHIDUsage_LED” and also “kHIDUsage_LED_NightMode”. Why on earth would Apple have these if there was not a feature of an OLED touch bar?

9To5 Mac has more details on this, but come on people, surely this is more than enough proof that the 2016 MacBook Pro will come with an OLED touch bar, along with Touch ID?
