Will it, won’t it is the question constantly being asked of the MacBook Pro 2016 refresh, and whether it will come with the Kaby Lake CPU upgrade?
The thing this is, we know we have said in the past that it does not look likely, as the more powerful version of this CPU would not be ready in time, if the new MacBook Pro was to be released either this month or next. However, we have started to hear rumours to the contrary, and so now there is a glimmer of hope.
So what’s changed? There are supply chain reports that show Kaby Lake processors that are powerful enough for laptops such as the next MacBook Pro update are ready sooner than expected. With this being the case, we now have to wonder if Apple will make an announcement in regards to an updated model tomorrow, with an aim for releasing it early next month in time for the release of macOS Sierra as well?
Previous rumours said we might have to wait until early 2017, and so Apple still might not be ready because of such a quick turnaround from Intel, and so we will just have to wait and see.
If Apple does launch an updated MacBook Pro tomorrow, and offer details on its release date then we do hope that some of those other rumours turn out true, such as that Touch OLED bar at the top, along with a thinner bezel around the display.
