Macbook Air 2014 battery life examined

As we told you earlier on this week, Apple has now refreshed the Apple Store with the 2014 MacBook Air update. We already told you that the new models would be slightly cheaper than previous models, but now we focus in on another key aspect – MacBook Air 2014 battery life and how it compares to the 2013 model.

If you regularly watch iTunes movies on your MacBook Air, you’ll be pleased to know that this aspect will be enhanced as one of the notable 2014 MacBook Air features.

Apple has promised that on the new 11-inch MacBook Air 2014 model, iTunes movie playback is now up to 9 hours. This is one hour extra that the 2013 model offered with 8 hours of playback on a single charge.

For the 13-inch 2014 MacBook Air, the duration is now upgraded to 12 hours of playback, which is even better for those choosing the bigger model as it is two hours of extra playback compared to the 13-inch 2013 MacBook Air which offered 10 hours only.

These new statistics are according to Apple’s own company tests, so most of you will have to get down with your own analysis to prove that they are accurate.

Both the 11-inch and 13-inch 2014 models still ship with the built-in 38 watt-hour and 54 watt-hour lithium-polymer batteries respectively, so it is very pleasing to see that Apple can squeeze an extra bit of juice in the updated models to offer even more battery life.

If you are considering an upgrade to the MacBook Air 2014, let us know if you are impressed with this battery life boost, or if you expected a little more from Apple.
