As expected, Apple unveiled Mac OS X Lion to the world at WWDC 2011, promising a vast array of new features, gesture controls and added functionality for users to enjoy. We now have the all-important for you in relation to price, upgrade information and release date details.

We’ll be bringing you in depth information on the list of new features later on, but now we’re going to focus on when it will be available. The developer preview of Mac OS X Lion will be available to download today, June 6th, but the full version will be available for all users at somepoint during July.

Interestingly, we’re hearing that Mac OS X Lion will only be available as an upgrade through the Mac App Store, but we’ll confirm this for you when we can. The file size for the upgrade will weigh in at a mimimal 4GB and perhaps the most impressive thing about the software is the price it will cost, as Apple has sprung a surprise.

You may remember that previous Mac OS X upgrades used to cost $129, but we’re pleased to confirm that Mac OS X Lion will only cost you $29.99 – really impressive from Apple there, we definitely didn’t expect that.

What are your thoughts on Mac OS X Lion, are you planning to upgrade in July? Expect full details soon.
