Lumia 800 listed with huge cut as white model on route

We recently told you that Nokia was already enjoying a large market share of the latest Windows Phone platform. This has come largely thanks the Lumia 800 that first became available late last year, and now we can tell you that the device was wrongly listed with a huge price cut, and there is talk of a white model on route.

According to new reports the latest firmware update revealed some code, which according to suggested a white model was incoming. The device is already available in black, cyan, and magenta and follows the likes of the iPhone and Galaxy Note with an offering in white.

Meanwhile some consumes thought they had picked up a bargain of a lifetime recently after Argos listed the Lumia 800 for only £120 in the UK. Cnet are reporting that this would have represented a massive £300 saving, and was first spotted by users of hotukdeals.

This led to the deal swamping the internet with 167,332 people hitting the listing for the device during last weekend. It is not known how many customers actually ordered one, but Argos has since said they won’t be getting the handset for that low price.

The retailer has said it would issue refunds to customers who did order the handset, and blamed an error on its website. Many believe though that once a retailer advertises a product at a price it has to honor it. But this is just a myth and the retailer is under no legal obligation to sell the item at that price, even though some will.

Have you ever noticed a product offered at an unrealistically cheap price?
