LOTR Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on PS4, Xbox One

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor was given a 2014 release window without an exact date and will launch on next-gen PS4 and Xbox One. Set in the Lord of the Rings universe, fans will have hope that developers can create an open world worthy of their money and utilizing the power of Xbox One, PS4 and high-end PCs.

We spent over 1,000 hours playing Skyrim, but if Monolith Productions could produce a game anywhere near Skyrim’s quality set in the LOTR universe, then this could be one of the most exciting games to launch in some time.

It would certainly stand a chance of being the best Lord of the Rings game to date, and we know fans that still play Battle for Middle Earth on the Xbox 360.

You can count on the Hobbit movie helping this game sell when it sees a release date in 2014, although the story will fill a gap between events of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

While we are most excited about seeing what’s possible on PS4 and Xbox One with Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, it should be noted that the game will also launch on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC as well but not Wii U.

The game will see you play as ranger Talion after he’s revived from a death at the hand of Sauron’s armies. The ranger will return with wraith-like abilities and begins his quest to take revenge in Mordor before it becomes a wasteland, as you’ve seen within the LOTR trilogy.

What would you like to see from Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor? Would you like to see a true open world experience, and if so do you have ideas already?

We will share Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor artwork, trailers and more as the news arrives. For now, share a comment below with your hopes for this upcoming game.
