Sony have confirmed that LittleBigPlanet 2 is now under development, and will launch exclusively on the PlayStation 3 sometime during this winter.
On the official PlayStation blog, Eric Levine has said that they intend on taking the “Play, Create, Share” aspect of the game to the next level by saying “top-down racing games, multiplayer shooters, flying side-scrollers, RPGs, etc” can all be created using Little Big Planet 2, adding, “The possibilities are really endless.”
New features that can be looked forward to are a better search system, which will allow the player to get to the stages they are interested in quicker, along with improved community features, new characters including the new SackBot, all new power ups, and a fully programmable Artificial Intelligence system.
If you created any levels on the first game in the series, you will be glad to know that these can also be imported into the second game, and can also be re-edited to make use of the new features. All new downloadable content is also expected to come with the release.
