Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII with FF7 Cloud bonuses

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII is not due to be released until 2014, but Square-Enix has already announced one of the major pre-order incentives that gamers will get for securing their copy of the game early. This one could be very tempting as well for Final Fantasy veterans, as we can tell you that a Cloud Strife costume, as well as the legendary Buster Sword from Final Fantasy VII will be up for grabs.

Square-Enix has released a video showing these FF7 bonuses in action and it looks pretty amazing. Of course it isn’t the Final Fantasy VII remake that the whole gaming community is waiting to hear about, but it certainly looks like a good way to keep us entertained for now.

Watch the video below and you’ll see Lightning transformed into a female version of Cloud, complete with the iconic Buster Sword as well. On top of that, Square-Enix are even throwing in Cloud’s famous victory pose from Final Fantasy VII as well, which should bring back some pleasant memories when you watch it for the first time.

The video also confirms that the game has a solid release date already set in place, with Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII releasing for Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 14 2014 – Valentine’s Day, how thoughtful of Square-Enix. When we see footage of Lighning taking down Cactus’ in the desert, it almost looks like it is Cloud himself, so credit has to go for the likeness purposes we guess.

Having said that, some of you are already saying that Square-Enix has gone a bit too over the top this time and should just announce a Final Fantasy VII remake already since they know it’s what everyone wants. Check out the action above and let us know if you are ready for yet another Final Fantasy XIII spinoff.
