Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII graphics preview

If you have already decided to pick up Lightning Returns next year when it releases on Xbox 360 and PS3, you are definitely going to want to check out this latest preview that we have for you. Square-Enix has unleashed the official intro cinematic of the game, while we also have extended gameplay footage for those that really want to see the changes from previous games in the FFXIII series.

Just to remind you, Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII is set for a release on Xbox 360 and PS3 on February 11 2014. That is obviously still a while away from release, but Square-Enix are not showing any signs of slowing down on the advertising bandwagon.

The developer and publisher has released a series of new gameplay clips, clips which should give you a very good impression on whether the game is worthy of a purchase after the likes of Final Fantasy XIII and XIII-2.

The first one is the entire opening cinematic to the game and features the usual high level of polish that you would expect from arguably the best cutscene makers in the industry. That alone is 5 minutes in length for you to sit back and enjoy, but there’s more.

We also have a whopping 35 minutes of gameplay footage for you to check out, taken from an apparent closed event by members of the Square-Enix development team. There’s included commentary as well, but obviously only accessible to those who can understand Japanese – the other two parts can be viewed via the related videos on YouTube.

The game looks amazing in the graphics department, especially for a game running on old hardware – it just goes to show that the end of this generation has really produced the best looking games with The Last of Us and GTA V as a few examples.

If you are planning on getting the game next year, you shouldn’t miss these clips. There’s also confirmation that you’ll be able to dress Lightning up as Aeris from Final Fantasy 7. Let us know your thoughts on how the game is looking so far.
