LG has yet to officially announce the release date of its upcoming 55EG920V 4K OLED TV, or even its launch come to that. However, this very affordable OLED TV has been outed during one of LG’s promotions it has running with Netflix.
As part of the new marketing campaign if you purchase the new TV model from LG you will receive 6 months subscription to Netflix Premium for free. We already have a full list of the TV models currently offering this deal, although the 55EG920V is the newest, seeing as though it is not even on the market yet.
We do find it intriguing to see the EG920V UHD TV as part of this promotion, as we don’t even expect to see the model officially launched until IFA in September. What we do love is the fact that it shows LG can produce a television with 4K OLED tech for far less than other models out there.
The price of the LG 55EG920V 4K OLED TV is expected to be around £2,999 in the UK, and is already available to pre-order, which again we find very strange. We have yet to learn many of its features, although this model is expected to offer a screen resolution of 3840×2160 from its 55-inch panel, inbuilt HEVC, WebOS 1.0 Smart TV and three HDMI ports.
Such aggressive pricing for this upcoming model shows us that LG is looking to make OLED more mainstream and not so much a niche product later this year, although many consumers will still see £3,000 a lot to pay for a 55-inch TV, even if it does offer far greater image quality.
