LG Optimus: iPad killer or just another Android tablet?

Most computer and smartphone makers know that Apple got the jump on them in the tablet market with the iPad, so are now planning a mass attack just to play catch-up. It is not uncommon for most of them to come out and say that their tablet will be better than the iPad, such as the LG Optimus tablet.

This is not what we think, but what LG’s Chang Ma recently said during a WSJ interview. Towards the start of the interview Ma said that LG’s upcoming tablet device will offer a number of surprises, but it will need to offer something extra special if it is to stand out against the multitude of other Android tablets about to flood the market.

Vlad Savov from Engadget has asked his readers if they think that Ma is either brave or just foolish? However, he then adds that it could just be very ambitious of LG — something that is needed to succeed in business.

LG also knows that the U.S market will be key to the success to the Optimus tablet. Do you think that this Android tablet will be able to stand out against the rest? If it does it will need to have some amazing hardware inside, but LG will be limited because of battery power — just like the rest of them. One other thing, Apple is already working on the iPad 2, which could be launched by the end of the year.
