LG and Samsung OLED problems vs. LED, LCD TV

The launch of the Plasma TV was a huge deal for the consumer electronics market, and OLED is set to replicate this, although there are a few hurdles that the technology needs to overcome if it wants to become as successful as Plasma.

Plasma is still widely used, but it will not be long before OLED is the standard, and the curved display certainly makes it an even more attractive option.

We have already looked at the many benefits OLED has over LED and LCD TV, such as almost infinite contrast levels, no motion blur and no issues with viewing. However, there are still several LG and Samsung OLED problems when compared to the LED and LCD TV.

What are these OLED problems? Price is the biggest issue, and at $15,000 for the LG model it is proof that new technology always starts of far to high. Next is down to the screen itself, as the first OLED TVs have curved screens, which is not practical at all.

Like Plasma TVs OLED is subject to burning, which means you need to be careful if you hit the pause button for too long. OLED is currently not 4K and so limits its quality when compared to LED.

CNET has a detailed analysis of OLED and its many problems when put up against LED and LCD TVs.

We have had a few of our readers land on this page looking for LG LED / LCD picture problems, so if this is you then you might want to see this page on the official LG website that helps with issues like this. You will also find similar pages on Samsung and Sony.
