LG 42LB570 Smart 42-inch LED TV review with 50Hz, no WiFi

We have a heads-up for you for anyone that is thinking of picking up the LG 42LB570 Smart 42-inch LED TV. This TV is now selling with a big discount in the UK at certain retailers and before you buy you’ll want to first check out a LG 42LB570 review.

This TV features some great specs, but most importantly it is a Smart TV which is available at a very low price – under £300 are the rumors going around at the moment.

For this kind of price, we can tell you that the LG 42LB570 Smart 42-inch LED TV specs include a 42-inch display with a full HD resolution of 1920×1080 pixels.

The main highlight of this TV is that it is Smart supported. As a result it offers Freeview HD and instant access to popular internet apps such as Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, Now TV, Spotify and Sky Sports.

It also includes an internet browser, 3 HDMI ports and multiple USB ports to play your content from USB or hard drive directly onto the TV.

On to the important aspects of this TV though. You need to be aware that it only features a native refresh rate of 50Hz, rather than 60Hz which most other manufacturers offer.

LG include their Motion Processing 100 technology into this TV, but some of you may argue that 60Hz is needed for gaming purposes whatever the cost.

While this may not be a problem for those that just want this model for TV viewers, others may have a different attitude.

The other observation of this TV is that doesn’t come with built-in WiFi support. It is only WiFi-ready, meaning that you need to purchase a separate LG dongle in order to get WiFi access for those internet apps.

Again this may not be a problem if your router is located near the TV as there is an ethernet port included – but for convenience purposes, you really want to get WiFi running for this model.

Give us your thoughts on this TV overall though and the best price you have seen for it so far. Are you tempted? For those that are looking for the supported WiFi dongle for this TV, we have already located it for you – it’s the LG AN-WF500 WiFi dongle, which you can buy from Amazon UK for under £20.

Is 50Hz native and no built-in WiFi a problem for you or not?
