Learn about American history with iOS apps

When it comes to countries with big histories the Romans, Egyptians and Ancient Greeks feel they have it covered but American history has many great events. There are stories of the Woodlands Indians who found USA, Alaskan Natives that are believed to have migrated from Asia beginning between 12,000 and 40,000 years ago. Then there is the Native American Indians, Amerigo Vespucci who used a Latinized form of his name, Americus Vespucius, which the name America derives from. Leif Erickson a Norse explorer who is regarded as the first European to land in North America, nearly 500 years before Christopher Columbus who never stepped foot on the current day USA. Also Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de’Leon who landed on what he called “La Florida” the first documented European arrival on what would become the U.S. mainland. From these events to stories of the Wild West and the Presidents, we thought it would be a good idea to show you some interesting apps about America.

Native American Indian Pictures and History by is available for $1.99 through the iTunes App Store. This app contains real photos of Native Americans from Apache, Cherokee and Pima Tribes plus Geronimo, Amos Two Bulls, Iron White Horse and many, many more. Get a full history lesson with interesting facts about Native American conflicts wars, vocabulary and timeline of important events. See real photos from Indian raids, ration deliveries and council meetings with proverbs, poems, prayers and words of wisdom using this great educational app.

Native American History For Dummies by Dorothy Lippert & Stephen J. Spignesi is available at the App Store for $18.99. This application is compatible with iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch, iBooks and on your computer. Learn about the Native Americans, American Indians, indigenous peoples, or first nations with a vast and diverse array of nations, tribes, and cultures populated every corner of North America long before Columbus arrived. Find out about their pre-Columbian history and how their presence, customs, and beliefs influenced everything that was to follow. This guide will give you information on their ten-thousand-plus year history plus influence on European settlement of the continent. Read about the lives of such icons as Pocahontas, Sitting Bull and Sacagawea there is also an informative introduction to North America’s first inhabitants.

When viewing an article you can use the green colored in article links to quickly move to pages explaining terms and events. Bookmark your favorites so you can pick up where you left off.

Learn about the history of the United States in this historical compilation that contains details on events from different eras that defined both the economic and social evolution of the United States of North America. You can use both fingers to enlarge full text, photos and graphics, or double tap to zoom out again.

Presidents of the United States for iPad by Clint Clayton is available for $0.99 at the App Store. This app will give you valuable information on the Presidents. Find out about famous and not well-known Presidents. There is a list in chronological order from George Washington up to Barack Obama where you can search for your favorite President and find out certain details. Access information on every President concerning years in office, Vice Presidents, birth dates, death dates, family members, nicknames, religion and their initial education and occupations. There are also details on U.S documents including the Declaration of Independence, The Pledge of Allegiance, The Constitution and much more.
