Latest on new Toyota Supra development process

For some of you, the development progress of the all-new Toyota Supra is not moving along as fast as they would like. However, we have seen what happens when things are rushed, and so for an iconic car to make a return, the Japanese carmaker has to get everything right. It’s for this very reason why Toyota is working with BMW, as they are able to share technology, along with the cost, hence why the BMW Z5 will share the same platform.

2018 Toyota Supra engine options limited

In terms of the latest news on the Toyota Supra, which will be in car showrooms in the second half of 2018, this sports car has now entered the final phase of its development. Not only that, but something else will come of this development, and that is a completely new sub-brand.

What is interesting is how Toyota has not detailed what that last phase of the development entails, and so we are left with more questions than answers. However, with its release due in a year and half from now, we are sure to start to see more details released, and with some luck, some appearances at some of the big auto shows – although more so those ones based in Europe.

Some of the details that we already know about the new Supra is all based on speculation, although from the sightings it’s easy to build up a profile of the car. Take the engine, in one of the test vehicles that has been driven about, it does sound as though there is a V6 under the bonnet, although we highly doubt that Toyota and BMW would use a V6, instead rather going for a four-cylinder with a Turbo or an electric motor working in conjunction with the engine.
