Kinect on Xbox 360: Has Kinect been hacked for $2000?

We have some surprising news to bring you now, as despite only going on sale a few days ago in the US, we are now hearing reports that Microsoft’s new Kinect hardware for the Xbox 360 has been ‘hacked’.

According to this report from Kotaku, a few videos have emerged online and it shows one user seemingly able to control the movements of the kinect camera at will, as well as being able to see a secondary view of what a player’s body movement looks like to Kinect.

Kotaku has said that there is currently a $2000 bounty up for grabs, to the first person that manages to successfully hack the device, so maybe that was the motivation that this guy needed to perform the feat.

We wonder what Microsoft think of this. Check out the videos for yourself below and give us your reaction to this. What do you think will happen now that users can gain access to Kinect’s internal files? Has Kinect really been hacked?
