You may remember an article we posted last week which gave you a few examples of how Kinect on the Xbox 360 was seemingly ‘hacked’. However, Microsoft has now responded to the claims, stating that Kinect hasn’t been hacked at all.
According to Microsoft, the term hacked means gaining access to the system algorithms which would then open up the console even further, to possibly dangerous attacks. Microsoft state that this hasn’t happened so far, as they explain below:
“The first thing to talk about is Kinect was not actually hacked. Hacking would mean that someone got to our algorithms that sit on the side of the Xbox and was able to actually use them, which hasn’t happened. Or it means that you put a device between the sensor and the Xbox for means of cheating, which also has not happened. ”
Interesting words indeed, but what are your thoughts on it. No doubt that you have seen the Kinect puppet video by now, and while the concept of using Kinect for other methods than Xbox 360 gaming, we can’t wait until someone brings something unique to the table.
