PSN down with maintenance locking games

Waking up with a day off, or a quick gaming session, might start with PS4 and PS3 owners asking is PSN down today? This is due to some PSN maintenance scheduled for April 21st for a 2 hour downtime window, which is set to end at 8:30am for PS4, PS3, PS Vita, and Web apps.

The official PSN status page explains, “Some services are undergoing scheduled maintenance”. This includes warnings for Account Management, PlayStation Video and Store. When you click for further information on why PSN is down today, you will see the status update below with full details.

We first noticed problems with the PlayStation Network after a few reports to Product Reviews spoke of “Locked Games” on the PS4 system. This makes sense considering everything is connected and many digital games won’t work without a live connection to PSN servers, so let us know if you’ve had problems playing PS4 games this morning in the comments below.

As we mentioned above, this routine PSN maintenance will last for around 2 hours between 6:30am and 8:30am on 21/04/2016. Sony claim if you already were signed in, then you should have no problems and users should also be able to sign into your PSN profile. Again, let us know if this isn’t the case for you and what location you’re in.
