iPod touch 7th generation GPS functionality hinted in patent

We know that Apple made several improvements with the release of the iPod touch 6th generation, which now sits happily between the iPod nano and the iPhone SE. However, there are still several things letting it down, one is something that has been missing and needed for several years now, and the other has only become prevalent since late last year with the introduction of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, although we’re not discussing 3D Touch at the moment.

Possibility or should we say hope of an iPod touch 7th generation with GPS functionality – has surfaced once again because of a new patent that has been granted, although several patents have been granted that could offer us a little insight into the next iPod touch.

We know that you can never take these patents as a matter of fact that we will see certain features in their future devices, but with 34 just granted to Apple, sone have to make it to their upcoming devices?

iPod Touch 7th generation release

Looking over a few of those granted patents, which you can see on Patently Apple, a few of them suggest that future systems would work far better for the likes of runners and power walkers. While the patents do not go into detail, we can only assume that they would cover more sensors, along with the much needed GPS chip.

Ok, so we could be a little presumption here, but just have a read of some of the patents, and you will see just what we mean.

We also notice that some of those extra sensors would be ideal in the iPod touch 7G for those within the health community.

So when is Apple likely to release its next generation iPod touch, and what features would you like to see?
