There is rumored to be new hardware at WWDC next month, but for those who think it could be the iPod touch 6th generation, think again. We don’t even know for certain if we will see a new iPod touch in 2014, but all the signs suggest we should, seeing as though the last time one was released we saw a larger iPhone, and with the iPhone 6 expected to have a bigger screen, the 6G model later this year does look promising.
We already discussed how a traditional release is still on for October, and how a fingerprint scanner would be a natural update for the device. However, it is clear that Apple will have to do far more than that in order to attract potential buyers.
Over the course of a few months PR readers have offered feedback as to what iPod touch 6th generation features they would like to see.
Some of the predictions made include – a 4.7-inch display like the rumored iPhone 6, and should also be thinner than the current-gen touch. As for its processor, we don’t expect it to sport the same as the next iPhone, but it could come with the same used in the 5S, which is the A7 chip with 64-bit architecture.
Apple has not updated the camera very much over the past couple of years on its iPhone, but our readers do expect to see a bump for the iPod touch 6G camera to 8-megapixel at the rear and 1.5-megapixel up front, which would be a vast improvement over the 5G model.
As for memory, Apple always seems reluctant to discuss how much RAM they put into their iOS devices, although our readers have asked for increased RAM to make things run smoother, although iOS 8 will also help keep things running smooth.
Ever since the 5th generation iPod touch was released our readers have complained about poor battery life, and while several iOS updates have stretched time between charges, things are still far off what people would like. iPod touch 6th generation battery life needs to be capable of playing at least 60 hours of music and 10 hours of video playback, so let’s just see what happens.
None of these features are over the top, although we are sure you have some more outrageous ideas, which we would love to hear.
When do you think Apple will release the iPod touch 6G, and how much would you be willing to pay?
