Yesterday we told you how a new bootrom exploit has been found for iOS 4.1, and it looks as if iPhone 3GS owners are the first ones to get a solid jailbreak and unlock tool, thanks to this lengthy guide we’ve found.
This guide comes courtesy of RedmondPie and will allow you to jailbreak iPhone 3GS handsets running iOS 4.1, by using an old bootrom and PwnageTool.
If you are interested in giving this a go, you’ll need the latest version of iTunes and then you’ll need to backup your data using the software in case anything goes wrong during the process.
Once you’ve done that, you will then need to download PwnageTool and follow the steps carefully over at RedmondPie. They shouldn’t be too hard to follow and there is also some included images to help you along the way.
You should only try this if you know what you are doing, as we definitely don’t recommend it for beginners. Head over to RedmondPie for the tutorial and download links.
Let us know how you get on. Don’t forget a full jailbreak solution for iPhone 4 handsets on iOS 4.1, is likely to release soon – more details on that here.
