iPhone Breaches Vancouver Olympics Opening Ceremony

The opening ceremony of any Olympic games is always a closely guarded secret until the big event takes place; this is the same with the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. However, there are always those who try to spoil this anticipation, such as select individuals who breached security by recording rehearsals on their Apple iPhone.

Friday is the start of the Vancouver Olympics and will be the first time that the opening ceremony will be held indoors. According to Reuters, organizers have been finding it hard to stop people from giving away information about the opening of the event, one where more than 3 billion people will watch.

The 2010 Winter Olympics is a big deal; even Google has got in on the action with a Doodle on their homepage, which we wrote about this morning. It seems that keeping a lid on big opening events like this is getting harder each year, more so now with Facebook and Twitter, which people have direct access to from their iPhones and BlackBerry devices.
