Even though it’s only been two months since the release of the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, we already know that Apple is working on the next-generation model. However, a recent rumor has surfaced that talks about a future iPhone switching to OLED, although it will not be in time for the 2016 model.
The rumor suggests that Apple will not make the shift to OLED until 2018, and so that means the iPhone 8 display will be OLED – although this is already being argued, as many of you believe that if the iPhone 7 or 7S does not come with this improved screen technology, then they would have missed the boat and be far behind Samsung.
Some of you will be skeptical of the report, and say that waiting until 2018 is just too long. Having said that, Apple has been investing in microLED, which is believed to have more advantages than OLED, as it would allow for transparent displays, improved efficient and will be even brighter.
People are under the assumption that OLED is more efficient than LCD and LED, although this is only the case under darker conditions, and so not in daylight. However, the jury is still out on microLED, and how far Apple is into development.
Do you think that Apple will make the shift to OLED for the iPhone, and when do you think it will be implemented? Having said that, do you think Apple will pursue microLED instead?
