iPhone 6 vs. HTC One M8 antenna band placement

In the past Apple has never been known to copy the design of another smartphone, but that might be about to change if we are to go on a recent iPhone 6 mockup. Before you even start, we know that Apple has copied mobile software features, although they have never denied this.

Before we get too ahead of ourselves, it is worth noting that this is not the final design of the iPhone 6, but the guy behind the mockup has been pretty close in the past, so we could be looking at a very close representation of the next iPhone.

When looking at the rear of the iPhone 6 mockup you will see how closely it resembles that of the HTC One M8, which we already pointed out when looking at the succession of previous iPhone mockups.

It certainly says something about how far HTC has come over the past few years, as they were once not considered highly in terms of quality design and build quality, and now you have the possibility that Apple could replicate one of your key design features.

iPhone 6 vs. HTC One M8

This is the only bit of plastic that you see on the rear of the M8, and could also be the fact with the iPhone 6, which would be a huge deal for Apple, as they seem to hate the thought of plastic. However, this is considered a clever way of separating the parts of the external antenna, although HTC did have a few issues with this at first, until a software updated managed to fix it.

Okay, so we know that a video of the HTC One M8 pitted against a handset that has yet to be released is a bit presumptuous, but it is interesting to see how people would react if Apple were to borrow a rivals design feature and implement it in their own way. Having said that, it is interesting to see how this latest iPhone 6 mockup with the plastic rear antenna strips has proven a popular design, which is showcased in the second video below, although these are not the only leaked iPhone 6 images.

There is also something else we need to consider, HTC has done this for a reason, and Apple could very well like this reason.
