iPhone 5 years on

The first iPhone landed at stores 5 years ago yesterday and this marked the 5th anniversary, which saw Apple enter the phone market and some analysts thought this would be a bad idea. One complaint some people have is the fact the iPhone has not changed much externally over the years, although the iPhone 5 could be the most radical redesign to date.

How much has the iPhone changed over the last 5 years? In memory of this special anniversary we thought our readers might like two videos from the past, which we found thanks to iPhone Rumors. We have embedded both videos below this article and they include a look at Steve Jobs revealing the iPhone for the very first time, and also one bloggers 15 minute retrospective of the moments leading up to the 2007 release of the first iPhone.

The iPhone 5 might appeal to more people with a redesign and much better specs, but we also know there are a lot of people that don’t like Apple’s phone for a number of reasons. Apple users are some of the most loyal around, so if you are an iOS user then feel free to share your memories of the iPhone since its original launch. If you’ve never owned an iPhone we’d equally love to hear why you have never jumped onboard the popular iPhone train?

The image below shows the rise of the iPhone over the last 4/5 years, which is thanks to data collected by ComScore and this source. The information shows Apple iPhone users in millions rising from the original 2007 iPhone, through to the iPhone 4S in 2011.

We have also included a third video below, which could be what the iPhone would look like in another 5 years come 2017.
