iPhone 5 nears as production begins

Today we have already heard reports saying that Apple employees had started training in preparation for iOS 5. There was also news that Deutsche Telekom had begun offering preorders for the next iPhone even though no details or availability are currently known. Not it seems the iPhone 5 release date nears as production of the device allegedly begins.

Now according to a Japanese website Makotara the next iPhone has begun production but the units are not currently being packed, as they are waiting for iOS 5 to be installed. We have seen an iOS 5 beta 7 recently released to developers, but would Apple really want loads of units stock piled waiting for the final version of the OS to be installed?

If training has really begun the final build of the software should be almost complete, so it could be ready to install on the devices anytime soon. It is also reported that Foxconn Technology and Pegatron Technology will be both assembling the new device, with Foxconn making the bulk of the units.

While Apple may be getting closer to releasing the new unit, the company has yet to announce the usual September press event. There is still plenty of time left yet for that still to happen this month, and the release is still looking at sometime in October.

We have had lots of rumors over the last few months suggesting Apple will be releasing two new handsets this time round. There has been talk that one of those will be a reworked iPhone 4 that will offer a cheaper alternative to the usual high end device.

Most consumers will want to hear what the flagship iPhone model will bring, and if Apple has anything ups its sleeve to show to the world. The company is under increased competition in the smartphone market over the last few months, with the Android platform leading the charge.
