iPhone 5: Realigning the release date

The majority of Apple followers agree the iPhone 5 that gets a release date this year will be a true upgrade, and that the 4S model had lacked in many areas. This has led a growing number of people to look out for an iPhone 5 since last year, and some of these potential buyers are hoping WWDC 2012 will include a shock announcement from Apple.

Will Apple surprise everyone with a new iPhone 5 in a few hours time? This is exactly what some people are counting on, and feel they will “announce it last“, although this news would have an unintended consequence for both Apple and those of our readers that bought the 4S model. Not only will current owners be locked into contracts, considering it has only been a few months since the last phone launched, but how would these people feel about Apple delivering a release date for iPhone 5 well within 12 months of the last launch?

It’s fair to say that the 4S launch deviated from tradition for a number of reasons, but after 4 years with a June WWDC launch schedule and then a sudden change, should Apple make the iPhone 5 be the device to get these release dates back to how they used to be?

While we think it is highly unlikely this will happen, it had also been a big surprise when Apple took their phone away from the WWDC launch platform, which is something we dearly miss.

Should Apple use iPhone 5 to realign the release date window, which would mean a launch in the UK and US within the next four weeks? You can read more about the desire for a new phone and related rumors in this article.
