The launch date and time for the majority of countries involved in the initial iPhone 5 rollout will be the same, although the variety of time zones means that some people will get hands-on with the 6th generation Apple phone way before others. The iPhone 5 release time might be about the same in each country, but Australia will be one of the first countries to see a launch. It is coming up to 6am EST in Australia at the time of writing, which means the iPhone 5 launch in this country will start within the next 3 hours.
We’ve already heard about some people receiving their iPhone 5 before the official launch date, which would obviously be due to some faults with shipping companies being too hasty. These users that decided to have their device shipped rather than wait in long queues take the gamble on getting an iPhone 5 on time, which won’t be a perfect delivery for everyone.
Having owned an iPhone for all 5 generations it’s a no brainer that we get hands-on the moment the new device launches, which is due to the amount of money that has been invested in apps and other iOS/iTunes related software and music. Like most longtime iPhone users you might have bought a number of Apple products and enjoy the way these devices work together, so again changing to another brand is made even harder under these circumstances. Have you invested a lot in Apple over the years?
What time will the iPhone 5 be released in the UK, US, and Australia? In flagship Apple Stores you should expect a launch around 8am, although these bigger stores have seen people queuing for a couple of days before the release date. Most O2 stores in the UK are also offering an early opening time of 8am. You can see the queue for iPhone 5 at Apple’s Sydney store in the second and third videos below, which were uploaded to YouTube within the last few hours. The same long lines can be seen at Apple Stores all around the world, which a quick search on YouTube would reveal just how big this launch is for thousands of people to stand waiting for hours.
You can watch the first video below that might make you laugh while counting down the hours until the iPhone 5 launch, and this spoof certainly shows that size doesn’t matter. The iPhone 5 will deliver ultrafast wireless and improved performance thanks to the A6 chip, but how well the new phone delivers in real world tests is yet to be seen. We’ll bring you our hands-on review within the next couple of days, although feel free to share your thoughts on the next big thing from Apple.
