iPhone 5 and iPad 2 demand affects digital still cameras

The popularity of Apple devices is no secret and the demand for the iPad 2 and the iPhone 5 is extremely apparent. As the popularity continues what affects are they having on other electronic consumer devices.

Today we have news of the affect the demand for these Apple devices is having on digital still cameras, specifically the Taiwan-based DSC makers. According to DigiTimes a number of companies will suffer a decline in shipments of their products over the next quarter due to high demand for small panels used in the iPad and iPhone which will cause a shortage.

Some of the companies included are Asia Optical, Foxconn Electronics and Ability Enterprise. Despite the hit on the growth that the shortages will have on these products, the overall shipments will still be more than last year.
