Apple working with owners for iPhone 4S battery solution

There have been many users complaining of poor battery life on the iPhone 4S compared to the previous model. Some people have wondered if it had something to do with the iOS 5 software, as some had noticed a difference after upgrading the OS on the iPhone 4. Now we can tell you that Apple have been contacting owners regarding the iPhone 4S battery life, and trying to find a solution.

According to The Guardian Apple engineers have been contacting some iPhone 4S owners to try and fix problems regarding battery life. One has said Apple contacted them directly and was asked to install a monitoring program on the device in an attempt to get to the bottom of the issue.

When the iPhone 4S was released the data sheet for the handsets specs said the new smartphone would only have 200 hours of standby time. This compares to the 300 that the iPhone 4 has, and the first iPhone even had more with 250 hours.

Owners have reported that in standby the handset loses ten percent in power every hour, with usage of the device making the situation even worse. One owner said they tried switching everything off including Siri, and with no installed apps, but battery life was still really poor.

An owner that was contacted by the Apple engineer said that Apple isn’t close to finding a solution to the problem, but was very helpful and apologetic. Some of the battery problems have been put down to corrupted contacts that have been imported from iCloud or MobileMe. Users who have deleted them before reinstalling have found that it sometimes sorts the problem.
