iPhone 4G: 8 Megapixel Camera by Sony – Is it true?

We have heard a lot of rumors regarding the iPhone 4G / HD lately, but none more exciting than this one perhaps. The latest rumors are that Apple will be upgrading the iPhone 4G with an 8 megapixel camera.

As PocketGamer reports, Apple will be ditching their current supplier OmniVision, in favor of none other than Sony. Is this really true though?

Well according to Rodman Renshaw analyst Ashok Kumar, it is very true, while Scott Moritz, technology reporter for The Street also backs up these claims.

While we all know that the current iPhone 3GS isn’t too great for taking pictures, imagine what a Sony powered 8 megapixel camera will do to picture quality on the iPhone 4G.

It is mouth-watering stuff to be honest. Let us know your thoughts on this. Would Apple really work together with Sony?
