Apple did something out of the ordinary yesterday after its iPhone 4 conference, they took a select few from the event and allowed them access inside their Infinite Loop labs. The place is Apple’s iPhone 4 testing facility where they have been working on solving the signal issue caused by the external antenna design.
Steve Jobs explained to them that they have been working hard to test their phones — although they were not allowed to take any photos or shoot videos. What photos Joshua Topolsky’s from Engadget included in his article were given to him by Apple.
Engadget were not the only journalists there, Macworld, New York Times, USA Today and Wired were also shown what has been dubbed the ‘black lab’ wireless testing facilities. Showing them around was the cream of the crop from Apple, Bob Mansfield, Greg Joswiak, Phil Schiller and Ruben Caballero.
The journalists were told that 40 Apple engineers have been working these labs — although the testing facility used to be a secret to most other Apple employees. It is all well and good being shown this, all we want to know is — when will they make an iPhone with no lose of signal?
