iPhone 4 Signal Problems: More Tests Confirm

The launch of the iPhone 4 has not been a good one for a number of reasons — the main one being its signal problems. We already knew that the loss of signal was all down to how you hold the phone; more tests have been made and confirm this. So what now?

It seems that when you take the phone in your hand it can reduce the amount of bars on the signal indicator, Mark Hachman from PCMag said that Gizmodo has also noticed this issue. The problem is with the antenna that is on the outside of the case, as it is sensitive, touching it has an adverse affect on its usefulness.

This is not an issue if you are in an area with a strong signal as the loss of two bars is not a problem — this is a different story if you have a weak signal, losing those two bars will end in a dropped call.

Hachman explains that if this were a real problem with the design, then we would have heard more than a few users with poor reception. However, it seems that recent tests conducted by PCMag proves that there is in fact a problem.

They ran some more tests and found that by adding a bumper around the band the problem did not happen — so it seems that the antenna has an affect when comes into contact with a sweaty hand. For more details visit the link above
