iPhone 4 shipping times slip ahead of iPhone 5 release

Things are certainly warming up regarding the release of the iPhone 5 and suggestions of the handset being available soon. We have heard that Apple’s suppliers are running at full pelt and the iOS 5 operating system is being tested by carriers. There is now a rumored date that Apple could be holding their event to showcase the device. Now we have news that the iPhone 4 shipping times slip ahead of iPhone 5 release.

New iPhone 4 orders in the US now ship in one to three business days via Apple’s online store, and according to AppleInsider could be a sign the company is running low of stock of the device. Before this orders for both AT&T and Verizon versions shipped within 24 hours. This was for all storage options for the device including both colors.

This has now stretched out and takes the one to three days for all the versions of the handset. Also the entry level 8GB iPhone 3GS on AT&T takes the same length of time for shipping. Even if you want to purchase the unlocked version of the iPhone 4 you will have to wait the same amount of time for shipping.

This has happened before with other Apple products with the MacBook Pro shipping times lengthening just before the new model being released. Currently other areas such as the UK and France are still showing 24 hour shipping times. We reported recently that the iPhone 4 in the US is still the top selling smartphone, even though the new version is soon to arrive.

It is thought alongside the iPhone 5 Apple will be releasing a new version of the iPhone 4, which is rumored to be a cheaper version of the device. This may have something to do with the 8GB iPhone 3GS stock being run down to be replaced.

Are you hoping for a cheaper version of the iPhone 4 to be released as well?
