The iPhone 4 has now been with us for almost five days now and there is no denying how popular the handset is — but we have to wonder how many more units would have sold had the white model been available on release day. Thankfully there is a workaround with a black and white hybrid.
According to Richard Lai from Engadget, it is possible to use the latest teardown guide from iFixit and some white externals from China and you will have your own white iPhone 4 — something that will confuse those still waiting for one to become available.
The Chinese kit comes with a white front and back cover along with a new proximity sensor. The only problem was that Lai could not get hold of any white buttons, which means that it stands out. However, at least it makes the mod more unique.
Remember that doing this modification is not for the faint-hearted and it will void your warranty. If you manage to get hold of some white parts and are adamant that you want a white version now, then just follow the step-by-step guide on Engadget via the link above. There is also information there on where you can purchase the parts from.
