If you currently have an iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S power adapter, then you might want to take a look at the model number, as there is a chance that some European models could be defective and as a result will have to be recalled.
Apple has recently announced an European iPhone USB adapter recall for these affected models and has already set up a replacement program. The models affected are those that were sold with the iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S, as well as those sold separately.
Reason for the recall — Apple says that in some cases these affected 5W European USB Power adapters can overheat, which could become a huge safety risk to owners. The dates in which these adapters were shipped are October 2009 to September 2012.
The affected model that is part of this Apple recall is Model A1300, which was not only sold in Europe, but other countries also, all of which has been listed on the Apple website.
If you have the A1400 model, then you are safe because this was the redesigned model.
You will be able to take your affected iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S USB adapter to your local Apple retail store for exchange, or if you are unable to attend, then you will need to contact Apple Technical Support. Remember, if you do plan to go to the store, please make an appointment first.
