iPad to Exceed Market Expectations: 8 to 10 million in 2010

We discussed in a recent post that Apple has had to delay the shipment of new iPad tablet orders by two weeks. The first shipment will be on April 3 as we know — the second is on April 12. However, a recent report suggests that iPad sales could hit between 8 to 10 million by the end of 2010.

Early forecasts suggest that the iPad will sell 2.5 million units in the first three months — that’s more than the original iPhone back in 2007. Apple also said that they would shift up to 10 million iPad tablet devices by the end of 2010 — double previous expectations.

Much of this is to do with the increase in production and the hype that surrounds the device. Let us hope that consumers like what that get on April 3, otherwise Apple might want to revise those sales predictions.

According to Apple Insider, Wall Street only expected sales to be between 3 to 4 million in its first year. This does prove one thing – never underestimate Apple.
