iPad mini 2 features for 1st-gen users

With the iPad mini 2 release looming, Apple faces the tough task of persuading current smaller iPad users to upgrade. The thing is, in most cases iOS users will skip a generation because they know the upgrade to the next model is not normally that huge, much like the iPhone 4 and 4S in that respect.

However, we have to wonder if some of the iPad mini 2 features will offer a few twists as a way to tempt 1st-gen users? While we have no proof that Apple will do this, Phones Review says there have been a few Apple patents that could see a few new features coming to the iPad mini 2nd generation.

There have been rumors suggesting the upgraded smaller iPad could come with Retina, but this will still not be a deciding factor for 1st-gen users to upgrade. However, what if the iPad mini 2 had a fingerprint scanner, which is also rumored to be an iPhone 5S feature?

If Apple did make use of a fingerprint sensor on the iPad mini 2, then they will need to make certain that they implement this correctly, and learn from the mistakes made by Motorola and their Atrix handset.

We believe this could be one of those features that could persuade current iPad mini owners to upgrade, but what other features would you like to see?

Whatever features the iPad mini 2 comes with, we do know the design will stay the same, which is good news for those with an abundance of cases for the current version.
