Earlier on this month we informed you about some rather wild rumors suggesting that Apple could have plans in the pipeline to release a whopping 12.9-inch iPad onto the market in 2014. Now, we are again hearing whispers within the production line suggesting that this is going to happen, making consumers pleasantly shocked in the process.
Variety is always a good thing of course and there’s no doubt that a near 13-inch iPad would do just that – shake up the tablet industry in a big way. So far we haven’t seen many tablets go beyond the 10.1-inch marker, but Apple could be the first to break this trend by offering a 12.9-inch iPad Air 2 in 2014.
The rumor specialists Digitimes are again claiming this as fact, saying that this 12.9-inch iPad will be ready for release during the late stage of 2014. This is an update on our previous report, as initially there was no timeframe for such a plan.
Now we could be in a situation where Apple will unleash a 12.9-inch iPad around the same time where the company would usually give us their annual iPad refresh. The question is, will Apple make the 12.9 iPad a replacement for the iPad Air, or will the 12.9-inch just add to Apple’s existing line to offer consumers a whole portfolio of sizes along with the Mini?
Let’s hope that we hear some more concrete evidence on this larger iPad soon. For now, tell us if you would seriously consider buying a 12.9-inch model should it become a reality in 2014.
