iPad 5, mini 2 launch event differs from 2013 iPhone

It seems those consumers not in the know think Apple’s September 10 event will reveal not only a new 2013 iPhone, but also a new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 tablets as well. While we cannot count this possibility out completely, it would be extremely odd for Apple to launch any new tablet at the iPhone 5S and 5C event.

There are a number of reasons why this will be the case and these include the new 2013 iPhone models needing a dedicated event as Apple’s biggest product. Then you have previous patterns as an example, which reveal clearly what will happen this year unless there’s any unforeseen delays thanks to supply issues.

Taking a look at this time last year reveals a great deal in terms of expectations for an event on September 10, already confirmed by invitation, and another event in October. We have already touched on rumors from the supply line in regard to a new 2013 iMac with a Haswell processor to launch at an event in October, and this should be joined by an iPad 5 and iPad mini 2.

In 2012, the first generation iPad mini was announced at an event in late October along with a new 10-inch iPad with Retina display. We expect the same to happen this year, although the release month will depend on how late in October the event is held. Last year the new iPads released right at the start of November.

In a nutshell: if you were thinking more than a new 2013 iPhone would showcase on Sept 10, then you would be wrong if you are thinking along the lines of a new iPad 5 or iPad mini 2. In two days time the new iPhones will be launched, and then in the second half of next month you will get to see the new tablet hardware.

You can still count on a number of people going to forums and blog comments complaining why there was no new iPads at the event in 2 days time.

Feel free to watch a sneak peak of the new iPad 5 and iPad mini 2 thanks to a number of components being put together.
