iOS4 Release Time Confusion

Today is June 21, 2010 and is the day that iPhone 3G and 3GS owners can download and install the new iOS4 update however, Apple has yet to release details as to when the update will be ready for download. As you can imagine this has caused what social media users are calling a release time confusion.

We tried to get to the bottom of this in a recent post and found that last year’s iPhone OS 3.0 update was released at 10.am PDT that would be 6pm GMT. There have been suggestions that iPhone users have already started to receive the update — but this cannot be true.

Looking back at some of our recent comments some readers have been giving conflicting times as to when the update will be ready for us to start playing with the new mobile browser.

Some iPhone owners have said that they were clicking update in iTunes every two minutes, some have been complaining that they would like to update before they go to work — looks like that will not happen.
