iOS 8 SDK beta 5 now live

The iOS 8 SDK beta 5 is now live within the developer portal, which we predicted both the date and release time down to the minute earlier today. If you’re a developer you can login right now and download the latest build 12A4345d for your particular iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Apple also made the Apple TV beta 4 live for download on August 4th, although OS X Yosemite Developer Preview 5 isn’t live just yet.

The full release notes can be found on the official website and are available for everyone to read, including public users thanks to release note access being granted for non-developers as well.

We’ve embedded a screenshot below from within the member control panel that reveals iOS 8 beta 5 is indeed live and appeared just after 6PM UK time.

The full list of features and bugs fixed within iOS 8 beta 5 can be found on this page. Changes evident right away include fixes to AVCapture, Backup and Restore, CarPlay, Keyboard extensions, FaceTime now works correctly in landscape orientation, iAd videos will play fine in NPR HLS station, and more.

We also see there’s improvements to Localization, iCloud Keychain, OpenGL, Springboard, and the Music app will now download an album without freezing.
